General Tao Tofu Recipe

So basically, you are going to love it! Taste and adjust seasonings as needed (i left mine as is).


General Tso’s Tofu [Vegan, GlutenFree] in 2020

In a saucepan heat the oil.

In a large bowl, dredge the tofu in the cornstarch. For a complete vegetarian meal serve general tao tofu on rice or noodles with steamed snow peas or broccoli. Cut tofu into cubes and coat well with cornstarch.

Dip tofu in egg replacer mixture and coat completely. Cover, reduce heat to low, and cook until water is absorbed and the grains are tender, about 12 to 15 minutes. Marinate 30 minutes, or overnight.

Brown tofu with 2 tablespoons oil in a large pan. Mix egg with 3 tbs of water. Shake to remove any excess and set aside on a plate.

2 protein + 1/2 vegetable. Add the sauce and bring to a boil. Fry half of the tofu at a time until lightly browned.

Mix the honey and louisiana hot sauce in a bowl until well combined. Combine soy sauce, vinegar, mirin, oil, garlic, and ginger in resealable container. Weight top cutting board with soup cans, and press 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 375°f and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. It’s also pretty quick to make and super high in protein. Drain the tofu, pat dry with paper towels, and cut into 1 inch cubes.

Don’t worry that the tofu will break apart, as long as you’re using extra firm tofu and handle the bag gently. Introducing tofu, a great vegetarian source of protein. Add the quinoa, 1¼ cups (2½ cups) water, and a pinch of salt to a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Heat oil in pan and fry tofu pieces until golden. Drain the tofu ( photo 3) and discard the marinade.

Season with salt and pepper. In the wok, fry the onions, ginger, and garlic for 1 to 2 minutes. Add coated tofu and cook, tossing occasionally, until crispy and browned in places, 5 to 8 minutes.

Add cubed tofu, cornstarch, just 2 tsp (4 tsp) tuxedo sesame seeds, and a pinch of salt and pepper to a large bowl, and toss to coat. Marinate the tofu with soy sauce and and a bit syrup. Remove the tofu from the wok with a slotted spoon and set aside on a plate lined with paper towels.

Add the tofu and cook, stirring to warm through, and coat thoroughly with the sauce. It incorporates vegetables and pineapples, each bringing additional vitamins and minerals to the plate. Mix the egg replacer as specified on the box and add an additional 3 tablespoons water.

Using a slotted spoon, remove the tofu from the wok and drain on paper towels. This general tso’s sticky tofu recipe is a vegan and healthier take on the popular sweet & spicy chinese takeout chicken dish. It’s a perfect balance of sweet, salty, savory, and spicy.

Halve the onion and thinly slice, set aside. In a wok over high heat, heat the oil. Next, sprinkle the sesame seeds over the tofu, and toss until evenly distributed.

Season with salt and pepper. Stir in garlic, ginger, maple syrup, soy sauce, ketchup, sriracha sauce, scallions and vegetable broth. This version can be classified as a healthier choice for various reasons:
